During a busy post-season period, it was with great excitement that Limassol Marina had the honour of welcoming one of the world’s finest professional offshore sailing yachts to its waters – the stunning S/Y SKORPIOS. Fresh from winning line honours on her first outing at the 2021 Rolex Fastnet Race, the vessel and crew were able to enjoy all that Limassol and the marina have to offer, while preparing for their next appearance on the world’s premier offshore racing scene at the Rolex Middle-Sea race in Malta.

The Captain of the S/Y SKORPIOS, Pepe Ribes, expressed how impressed he and the crew have been by the level of professionalism and hospitality of the Limassol Marina team: 

Captain Ribes added, “Limassol Marina has very good facilities and is flexible enough to provide any help or support that the boat needs during our stay here. The Marina also has very deep berths, which are very rarely found in Mediterranean marinas. Limassol has also been a pleasant surprise for the crew as the Marina has a big variety of restaurants and services for them to enjoy after work. 

Proximity to the old city centre means we can explore the very nice area there of restaurants and small shops. The most striking thing for us, however, has been how safe we feel at any time on the streets in Limassol, and in the Marina. I would also like to note the fine weather, it still feels like summer at the beginning of October.”

Marina Manager Tom Lord commented “It was a real pleasure to offer our services and facilities to a yacht operating at the cutting edge of sailing technology and innovation. We were able to support the crew to facilitate a productive visit and ensure that every need was catered for – again proving that Limassol provides the perfect stopover destination for yachts of every kind. 

We had the opportunity to invite the crew to one of our famous sunset barbeques on our helipad overlooking the marina, which provided a great opportunity to hear tales of offshore racing adventure and of ambitious plans ahead for S/Y SKORPIOS, her owners and crew.
