Limassol Marina held its Christmas lights switch-on event on Saturday, on the 24th of November, with thousands of people attending, marking the beginning of this year’s festive season. In a joyous atmosphere, the event was attended by the Mayor of Limassol, Mr Nicos Nicolaides, who launched the countdown to the lighting display, officially welcoming this year’s Christmas on the Sea in the heart of the city.
This family-friendly event boasted plenty of fun and entertaining activities, including an interactive arts and crafts workshop for children, run by
IPH House of Arts, as well as a delightful choir performance of angelic carols and Christmas classics, sung by Spyros Kapsaskis Choir. Filled with festive melodies and the delicious scent of roasting chestnuts, the event also hosted a traditional Christmas market, set around the Square, with dozens of chalet-style stalls. Visitors had the opportunity to purchase festive-themed products, treats, crafts and gift ideas, all in support of
Funraising Charity Foundation. The event, which was broadcast live by
Kanali 6, culminated with the much-awaited arrival of Santa Claus who made a very special appearance this year on a buggy, officially “inaugurating” the Christmas season. Both children and adults were delighted to see his white fluffy beard and took some memorable photos with the most eagerly anticipated visitor on earth.
